The Four R's of Solid Waste:
recycle

REDUCE: Buy only what you need and use up whatever you buy. Look for items with a minimum of packaging.

REPAIR: Fix items that are broken rather than purchase new ones.

REUSE: Look for reusable items rather than disposable ones. If you can no longer use something, find someone else who can, through donations, garage sales, classified ads or resale shops.

RECYCLE: Create new items out of unwanted ones.

Why Recycle?

  • To reduce the amount of solid waste to be disposed. This translates into saved tax dollars.
  • Promote conservation of natural resources.
  • Offset disposal costs through the sale of materials.
  • Reduce pollution and save energy.

Close the Loop: Buy Recycled products!
Look for products that state that they are made from recycled materials, such as papers and plastics. Consider buying a used item instead of a new one!
