Economic Development

The Northfield Economic Development Corporation is a 501c (3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote Northfield's economy by facilitating industrial and commercial development.  We strive to improve the economic condition and quality of life for all residents, balancing economic growth with retaining the small town atmosphere that residents have enjoyed since colonial times.

NEDC is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the membership at the NEDC annual meeting and serve staggered three year terms.  In addition to managing the administrative functions for the organization, the Board appoints working committees to accomplish NEDC's mission and further specific organizational goals.  Current working committees are:

Business Retention and Expansion Team:  The BRET team was formed in 2018.  Members are tasked with conducting a comprehensive outreach to Northfield businesses with the goal of improving Northfield's ability to serve its business community.  The work is being completed in partnership with the UNH Cooperative Extension Service.

Community Profile Steering Committee:  In 2018 NEDC contracted with the Town and UNH Cooperative Extension Service to conduct a Community Profile event in May 2019.  A Community Profile is a two day event open to all residents in which citizens discuss community priorities and chart a course for a community's future.  These events have helped communities throughout New Hampshire; NEDC is proud to bring the Community Profile to Northfield.

Our economic development strategy is outlined in the Strategic Plan for Economic Development, commissioned in March 2012.

Organizational procedures are set forth in the NEDC bylaws
